I spent about two years playing brain games for up to an hour a day because I could see my memory failing. It definately helped me to remember where I put things and where I parked my car. But what was amazing -- was if I would run as fast and hard as I could off and on for 10-20 minutes on my ellipse outside under my deck and came in and played the games -- my scores would be significantly higher. I finally decided I'd be better off taking the time to run on my ellipse than playing the games!

I wonder what the results would have been if they tested people already diagnosed with memory issues, such as mild cognitive impairment, and if different type of games would have different results. I think much more testing needs to be done. I'm not ready to give up Sudoku or Luminosity!

Brain games may or may not work, but I don't think this study is at all useful. Not only did they not have a control group, but they didn't factor in varying amounts of play. Imagine testing exercise for 10 minutes a day, three days a week. What kind of results would you get, and what kind of pronouncement would you make based on that?
