Dan Gilbert asks, Why are we happy?

From the TED TALKS: This one is a classic…

Dan Gilbert, author of Stumbling on Happiness, challenges the idea that we’ll be miserable if we don’t get what we want. Our “psychological immune system” lets us feel truly happy even when things don’t go as planned.

I hope you enjoyed this video and please comment.

Thank you. I wonder if those thoughts might also relate to a person's actions when knowing and seeking to follow the Laws of God. First, he tries to know what is right and then lets that guide his actions, even if subconsciously he might want to do — or try — things he knows are wrong.

Great TED video on happiness. Let it flow is the key. We overthink. Having choice is great, but in all choices, there is no way to see the outcome. Anything can happen. All we really need to do is focus on what makes us happy and the happiness will follow. I am in a job that I never expected to be in, but finacial stability made me choose it. I don't necessarily like it, but I WAS focusing on gettig a chance to have one, fulltime job, over the four parttime jobs that I “had” to deal with — given no other out in sight. I made the best of the new one, fulltime job and I am happy to be employed and able to pay my bills; however, those fears of not being able to 'make it' in the future in the many part time jobs (substitute teaching/YMCA/massage therapy in my home/and a part time job with the Army) which paralyzed me emotionally and caused me to focus on one job were just fears. For that is my longing now. So I say, be happy in what you are doing or go with your passion — which of course never feels like a job. Did I make sense or are you confused??? I sure am…..
