I kind of lost interest when you started recommending that the only thing that will help you to lose weight is eating properly, and that exercise doesn't play into it, nearly as much.

I think you need to do a few studies in that are before you start making such recommendations, and if you have, I'd love to see them.

I can't think of one person that I've met, who has lost more than a hundred pounds and exercise didn't play a major role. For my own part, I've come down from 550 pounds, to 456 (that's just shy of 95 pounds lost), and though the first big changes were in diet, exercise was a necessity. I've worked my way up to a ten minute warmup, 30 minute workout and a ten + minute cooldown. I do it every morning and I feel wonderful afterward.

I've finally figured out what I need to do to eat right (for me, as it turns out, it really is as simple as making sure most of your meals have a grain, a vegetable, a fruit, a protein, and a dairy item. Once I started doing that, things basically fell into place.), so it looks like the REST OF MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY WILL BE FOCUSED ON EXERCISE. I wouldn't bring this up if I thought this only applied to me, and maybe a few others. Every study I've read shows that exercise is the main ingredient to productive weight loss.

Maybe if you've only got 25 or 50 pounds to lose, MAYBE you can get away with just dieting. But how soon before you gain it back? Losing 100+ pounds REQUIRES a lifestyle change - that means changing one's diet to something they can live on for the rest of their lives, and exercising EVERY DAY.

I will say this, however: the reason I came here is because I suspected the premise of this post. Since I've been losing weight, my mind is working unbelievably better. My memory is still... sub par, but suddenly I'm understanding things better, able to avoid things that I was once, basically addicted to (I'm wondering if being fat doesn't affect the addiction center of one's brain), among other things. It's nice to see that you found some evidence to back that theory up.

I do, however, hope that you'll educate yourself a little more as to the importance of exercise in losing weight, particularly to people that are obese.

We often forget that everything in the "mind" is a product of our brain and biology. Therefore, being healthy physically is a crucial part of being healthy mentally. It's no surprise to me that those overweight experience less healthier brains. Thanks for this!

Where is your proof "Einstein's brain was tiny" ???
To say this is a pointless article is rude &, sorry for the pun, small-minded. The point of the author seems here to say NOTHING of intelligence -- it seems to be an argument you are trying to make.He is more to the point aligning that there is direct correlation between food/types of food consumption& brain degeneration.

That's kind of insulting for you, since statistically hypnosis is easier to perform on more intelligent individuals. :/

Pointless article. Obese people may have smaller brains, but that does not impact on intelligence. A bigger brain does not mean a person is smarter. More indepth studies have proved that the tighter the compartments of the brain, the more intelligent that person is. Einsteins brain was tiny, yet he was a great man, due to the point I've recently stated.

There is no data indicating proof of causation. That is why these studies are pretty useless without more data.

Just because giraffes have long necks and also live to be 25 years old, it doesn't mean one CAUSES the other.
